How to detect Windows Server Unexpected System Shutdown


A simple way to know unexpected windows server shutdown:

  1. In Windows Server go to Start –>Administrative Tools –> Event Viewer
  2. Under Windows Logs –> System
  3. Check for event code 6008shutdown event
  4. Above screenshots clearly indicates that the server was unexpectedly shutdown at 6:44 AM.
  5. It may also be possible to know whether there was any unexpected shutdown or not by looking at event id 1076 and source as ‘User32’shutdown event2
  6. That’s it for now!
