Troubleshoot error ORA 28030

I often faced this issue while trying to login to oracle database using enterprise user credentials.

If you want to know the exact issue you must enable the sql traces first:

Enable SQL Traces

  • Sqlplus login as sys as sysdba user
  • SQL> alter system set events ‘28033 trace name context forever, level 9’;
  • SQL> connect orcladmin/<pwd>
  • Check for any logs created in the user_dump_dest location (default location $ORACLE_BASE/diag/rdbms/$SID/$SID/trace)

After successful traces and once the issue gets resolved, disable the traces. Other wise, lot of unnecessary logs get generated which might affect the performance.

Disable SQL Traces

  • Login with sys credentials
  • SQL> alter system set events ‘28030 trace name context off’

This simple approach helped me resolving issues numerous times…
